U.S. CPI flat in July; core prices up 0.1%
Core consumer prices rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.1% in July, below expectations for a 0.2% gain, after rising by 0.2% in June.
Year-over-year, core consumer prices rose at an annualized rate of 2.1% last month, compared to expectations for a 2.2% increase and down from 2.2% in June.
Consumer prices, including food and energy costs, were flat last month, compared to expectations for a 0.2% increase. Consumer prices were flat in June as well.
CPI increased at annualized rate of 1.4% in July, down from 1.7% in June compared to expectations for a 0.2% increase
