Retail sales hit highest in five months
Retail sales in the United States rose to their highest on over five months in February. The Commerce Department said on Tuesday, Advance retail sales were up 1.1% in February, as expected, up from an upwardly revised 0.6% (previously 0.4%). Sales were lifted by a jump in motor vehicles sales, which reflected increasing confidence in the economy and highlighted the improving jobs market.
Advance retail sales less autos were also higher than expected, at 0.9% versus 0.7%, up from 0.7% in the previous month.
