French GDP revised higher; German growth eases
French growth was revised higher than previously expected but growth was slower than the previous quarter a preliminary reading showed on Wednesday. Preliminary data from Germany also showed that the economy contracted slightly in the fourth quarter in Europe’s largest economy while annual growth was also revised lower.
France’s Q4 Preliminary GDP q/q was 0.2%, from 0.3% previously, but better than consensus for -0.2%. GDP Preliminary q/q in Germany was -0.2% in Q4 versus predictions for -0.3%, down from 0.5% the previous quarter and GDP preliminary y/y eased to 1.5% from 2.5% versus consensus for 1.8%.
